Set list: Happy Day, Like a Lion, Lord Almighty
After the music and announcements, we divided the students into different groups. The seniors met with a few college students to to talk about their transition from high school into college. The college students talked candidly about the trials of college and answered the seniors questions about college.
The 10th and 11th graders met together to challenge each other to step up as leaders. They discussed the qualities of a good leader and how they could lead in the youth ministry and their schools.
The 9th graders met with the 8th graders to talk about the transition into high school. The 9th graders were excited to share with the 8th graders and provided a lot of insight, advice, and encouragement.
The 6th and 7th graders met with the 5th graders to talk about the transition into middle school. One of the local schools has a middle (4,5,6 grades) and junior high school (7 and 8 grades). I was concerned that the conversation wouldn’t apply to them, but they were very interested and participated. The 5th graders had a lot of questions and the 6th graders did a great job of answering. It was cool to see how much the 6th graders had grown in the past year and them step up again in maturity and leadership.
It was the first time we tried this and we will definitely be doing it again!
